Ingredients
- 250 grams fresh okra (bhindi)
- 2 tablespoons chickpea flour (besan)
- 1 tablespoon rice flour
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- Salt to taste
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Prepare the okra by washing and drying them thoroughly. Slice them lengthwise into thin strips.
- Mix the chickpea flour, rice flour, red chili powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, and salt in a large bowl.
- Add the sliced okra to the bowl and toss them well to coat evenly with the spice mixture.
- Drizzle lemon juice over the coated okra and mix gently.
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
- Fry the okra in batches, ensuring they are not overcrowded, until they turn golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the fried okra with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- Serve hot as a snack or side dish.
Additional Notes
For a healthier version, you can bake the okra in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) for about 20 minutes, flipping halfway through. You can also add a pinch of chaat masala for an extra tangy flavor.
