- 1 small cauliflower, cut into florets
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
- Salt to taste
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 4 burger buns
- 4 slices of cheese (optional)
- Lettuce leaves, tomato slices, and onion rings for serving
Instructions
- Boil the potatoes and cauliflower in a pot of salted water until tender, about 10-12 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle for a few seconds.
- Add the boiled potatoes and cauliflower to the pan. Use a fork or potato masher to mash them together.
- Stir in ground coriander, turmeric, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well to combine.
- Fold in the chopped cilantro and remove the mixture from heat. Let it cool slightly.
- Shape the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties.
- Cook the patties on a non-stick skillet over medium heat for about 4-5 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a patty on each bun. Top with cheese, lettuce, tomato, and onion as desired.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your spicy potato and cauliflower burger!
Additional Notes
For a vegan option, skip the cheese or use a plant-based alternative. You can also add a tablespoon of chickpea flour to the mixture if it feels too wet to help bind the patties.
